Before I tear off into Monday’s weather I want to officially welcome Christina Kline to Nelson County Life Magazine as our Wintergreen Mountain Resort photographer. You’ve been reading Christina’s Nelson Outdoors column for over two years in the magazine. She’s also the manager at Blue Ridge Mountain Sports at The Mountain Inn. Christina’s been shooting a few shots too for us from time to time. She’s a great photographer and we’re so fortunate to have her join us in a more active capacity. She’s also in our Datebook section this week which has more information about her upcoming photography reception and show at The Wintergreen Nature Foundation September 1st. You can find out more by clicking here. Each day of this week we’ll be featuring one of the countless shots you’ll see on display at next weekend’s show. Though some of them may make you think of colder days ahead, we want you to have a sample of you’ll see at her show. See you there!

I also want to throw out a quick hello to Milly Colella in the Rockfish Airpark here in Nelson County, and Alan Faulkner over at KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas. Alan and I worked together in the television news business years ago. He’s now an executive producer I think it is, back in Little Rock. Milly listens to us each morning and Alan called us over the weekend to let us know he’s been checking in on the website. Saw Milly just this past weekend at the Farmers’ Market in Nellysford. Howdy to you both, and thanks for checking in each morning!

Wow! What a treat this weekend. Many of us got much needed rain either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evening. Folks in the south end of the county didn’t see much rain until Sunday afternoon, but they got a nice soaking around Montebello. I also noticed on the Covesville Store weather site over @ Rick & Sarah Ovenshire’s they had a wind gust of 83 MPH in those storms Saturday night. Wow! We’ll have a slight chance of thunderstorms again today, but nothing like we have seen over the past 2-3 days. Our next best chances for showers will happen toward the end of the week. We will see milder temps Monday, making it back around 90 by Wednesday.

Other area rainfall totals via Nelson County Flood System Reporting stations.

The cold front that brought showers and storms to our area over the weekend has moved to the south and east of Nelson. This will allow cooler high pressure to work in today making conditions feel better.
Current-Sat Surface Map

The National Forecast Map has the front out of our area totally by Tuesday. Today we can’t completely rule out a hit & miss t-storm but the chances are better to the south near Amherst and Lynchburg.
