Bo Holland Phone Company @ RVCC
Afton, VA
We’ve all had to call the phone company from time to time to have them come out and fix the lines. Don’t you just love it when they ask you all of those stupid questions. Have you made sure your phone is plugged in? Does this affect all of the phones in your home? Are you calling us from the phone line affected? And my personal favorite, can you please go to the phone interface on the side of your building and unplug there, then plug in a standard phone to see if you have dial tone there? Can you whistle dixie, stomp your feet, and click your heels three times? There’s no place like home Dorothy! Where are my ruby red slippers?
I must admit the scene above got my attention as I drove up to the Rockfish Valley Community Center Monday afternoon. Bo was busy going through all of the steps mentioned above to make sure Verizon would come out to fix the phone line. Mmmm, can you say lightning strike Sunday night…of course that wouldn’t have anything to do with it!
That was some pretty wicked lightning. Monday we did see some scattered storms, but nothing like Sunday. Most areas remained dry, though the clouds hung in there for most of the morning with some sunshine in the afternoon. We’re headed out of this overcast afternoon thunderstorms scenario for most of the week. Days will be hot and partly cloudy.

Looks like the WTG Nature Foundation thermometer has been fixed! Good job. No
more 90-degree days on the mtn. And I enjoy the Nelson County Life web site —
check it everyday.
Thanks for the nice compliment Larry. We did move the temperature sensor from the roof where it was getting reflected heat down under an eve in good shade. Made it much more reliable.
Thanks for checking in each morning!
