Severe weather loomed for most of the 4th of July across our area, but when all was said and done it never materialized. We had plenty of moisture in place, but the dynamics to begin triggering the storms never happened. We did see an isolated storm, but nothing being advertised the NWS and Storm Prediction Center. But you can’t really complain about not having an outbreak of severe weather!

The current surface map shows a cold front to the NW that will work its way toward us today. Local satellite shows plenty of clouds working their way in – in advance of the front.
Current-Sat Surface Map
On the National Forecast Map, the cold front continues to make progress toward Nelson today. Local radar shows showers breaking out now. That will be the trend for the day. We might see a thunderstorm but as long as the clouds hang in here that limits daytime heating which helps fire thunderstorms. If the clouds get some breaks in them we will have no problem warming up quickly since overnight lows didn’t drop much. Enjoy the cooler temps today, a hot weekend is on the way!
