Talk about the difference between daylight & dark, that’s how volunteers with the Nelson County Pantry feel about their new home on the parking lot just across from St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Route 29 north of Lovingston. “A relief, it’s been a long time coming,” says Dick Nees, President of the Nelson County Pantry board. In the old place down on Front Street we had no heat, no air conditioning, the roof leaked. ” Dick continues.
No need to worry about rain leaking down on the refreshments at Sunday’s open house. The building has a brand new roof, and plenty of room!
Folks stopped by on Sunday to check out the new home of the Nelson County Pantry that has actually been in use since the first part of the year, but was officially shown to the public during the open house.
With all of the new space there’s plenty of room to put everything out on the shelves for easy reach.
The Nelson Country Pantry is always in need of volunteers to help out. They really need them in the summer when so many folks are away on vacation. If you can help out, give them a call at: 434.263.6923
