Field Studies Institute: New Discoveries
July 7-8 9AM-3PM
$90 members, $105 non-members
This year marks the 200th anniversary of Nelson County and the 400th anniversary of the landing at Jamestown. Both were notable events in our local history, but what about the people who were already here? How did these events impact them?
Start uncovering, literally, the answers to those questions with Professor Carole Nash in two days of hands-on archaeological exploration! This year we’ll survey new areas of the mountain, try our hands at some prehistoric technology (you’ll never call flintknapping primitive again!), and explore likely routes into the mountains. Join us for two days of intimate discovery into the way locals lived before there was Nelson, before there were roads, even before Jamestown! For more information or to register contact Lil Ledford at (434)325-7473 or programs@twnf.org
