Good Thursday.
After some scattered thundershowers Wednesday we’ve broken out into mostly sunny skies this morning across Central Virginia. Local satellite images show clears skies to our NW for the next few hours, but more clouds are on the way in the afternoon. On the current surface map below you can see the cold front that moved through last night and brought in the cooler air. Right now that front is situated along the eastern shore. That front will essentially stall over the next 24 hours and hang in the area.
Current-Sat Surface Map
On the forecast map below a disturbance moves into the area by late afternoon bringing clouds and the chance for showers tonight and Friday. Until we get the systems out of our area, the chances for scattered showers will remain until Friday night when skies become partly cloudy.
Today’s Forecast Map
Today look for increasing clouds with a slight chance of showers by afternoon. Temps will top out generally around 70 in the valley and about 59-60 mountains. Tonight showers remain with lows around 45 valley and 39-40 mountains. On Friday mostly cloudy skies continue with showers continuing through the evening, then partial clearing. Highs Friday low 60’s valley and a chilly low 50’s mountains. Friday night lows dip to around 40 on the mountains and 45 valley.
The weekend looks dry for now, though we might see a lingering shower Saturday morning before breaking out to partly cloudy skies. Temps Saturday around 70 valley and around 60 mountains. Sunday sunny and warmer with mid to upper 70’s valley and upper 60’s mountains.
Have a great Thursday!
